Answering Some Top FAQ About Chiropractic Care

Whether you’ve never been adjusted before and have questions, or you’ve received chiropractic care in the past but still have questions we want to provide answers to help you better understand the benefits of this form of natural health care.

What is a subluxation and how does chiropractic help?

question marksChiropractic is about ease and dis-ease. Chiropractors find what has been termed as subluxation. When you have vertebrae that are locked up, they’re not moving like they should and that can cause an inflammatory response. That inflammation causes a whole cascade of issues that eventually affects the function of the nerves.

Chiropractic adjustments allow your nervous system to function better so your body can too.

Once I start receiving chiropractic care, will I have to go for the rest of my life?

No, you don’t have to. But if you want to stay healthy and feel your best, you will probably want to! It’s like going to the dentist every six months. You wouldn’t just get your teeth cleaned once, and expect to have a healthy smile for a lifetime.

By getting chiropractic care regularly, we can detect subluxations, which may not always have symptoms. We’re more focused on finding subluxations and doing adjustments to help open up the body’s potential, rather than chasing after different complaints.

Other than pain relief, what are some other benefits of chiropractic?

While we can relieve pain, the primary thing we’re addressing is getting things moving properly, so a person’s body can work better. Chiropractic can also relieve stress, enhance sleep, improve range of motion, boost the immune system, and so much more.

Is this going to hurt?

Many people think a chiropractic adjustment always involves getting snapped or cracked. That’s not true, as there are many ways to do an adjustment, including with the use of instruments, which are low force.

While an adjustment should never be painful, it might be a little uncomfortable the first couple of times, especially if you come in already in pain. But it shouldn’t be uncomfortable as you heal.

Is chiropractic appropriate for everyone?

If you have a spine, you can benefit from chiropractic care. Dr. Williams has had parents bring their newborns in on their way home from the hospital for him to check them. On the other end of the spectrum, he’s had patients over 100 years of age!

What techniques do you use?

Dr. Williams learned about 12 different techniques in chiropractic college but for him, it’s a combination of which ones work for different situations. So it’s his own individualized interpretation of all those. For example, he might use two or three different techniques on one patient, depending on what they need.
