Meet Dr. Moises Powell
From an early age, Dr. Powell knew he wanted to help people live healthier lives. Growing up in Honduras, he often saw people relying on medication as the only pain relief option. Even as a child, he questioned the hold pharmaceuticals had on people and knew there had to be a different way. He became interested in holistic health care, searching for a way to help people get out of pain and function better without depending on pharmaceuticals.

Hands-On Care That Makes a Difference
When he moved to the United States, Dr. Powell participated in different sports, including soccer, track & field, and cross country. With such an active lifestyle came injuries. He sustained a low back injury during his junior year in high school which took him out for most of his last two seasons playing. Physical therapy seemed to provide temporary relief, but he repeatedly found himself back to square one shortly after rehabbing and getting back on the field. This cut short his dream to play college soccer due to the chronicity of his low back injury. He decided to focus exclusively on academics with the goal of becoming a physical therapist, aspiring to support patients experiencing pain and injuries of the spine and extremities.
He had his mind set on physical therapy until his senior year of college, when he needed internship credits to graduate; he had always planned to complete this requirement at a PT clinic but every internship opportunity had been taken. Out of curiosity, he chose an alternative position at a chiropractic clinic. At first, he was just there to get his credits so he could be on his way to PT school. However he very quickly noticed something he had rarely seen while shadowing at PT offices. At the chiropractic clinic, patients walked out of the office looking visibly happier and more energized than when they arrived. He was also drawn by the hands-on approach of chiropractic — the chiropractor was actually adjusting the spinal column and other joints to improve function. After learning more about chiropractic, he realized this was his calling.
Helping Patients Stay Ahead of Pain
Dr. Powell earned his B.S. in Kinesiology with a Therapeutic Studies focus from Cal State, East Bay before completing his chiropractic education at Life Chiropractic College West. Now practicing in our Pleasanton location, he focuses on proactive and acute care simultaneously. He’s passionate about educating and helping healing patients suffering from pain, but he equally enjoys working with active individuals who want to stay ahead of pain rather than waiting until there is something wrong. His goal? To help every patient feel and function at their most optimal level.
Life Outside the Office
When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Powell loves—not surprisingly—to stay active. He enjoys playing soccer, working out, tuning his adjusting skills, and exploring new places—Brazil, France and Portugal are among his favorite destinations so far. Music festivals, reading, and spending time with his cat also top the list of things he enjoys most.
